Summary/Abstract: Civil war in Syria has become once again the main issue for the international media and policy-makers because of the use of chemical weapons. The doctrine of Barack Obama’s policy has for long time carefully avoided any serious involvement into the conflict. President Obama declared, however, that al-Assad’s regime should not cross “the red line,” understood as the use of chemical weaponry. The hesitant reaction of the US administration, despite previous declarations of both the President as well as the Secretary of State, John Kerry, perfectly reflects the weakness of the execution of the US foreign policy. The lack of the US action strengthen the position of the Russian Federation that has the actual power to prevent closer ties between Syria and Iran.
