Summary/Abstract: Precariat is a notion and phenomenon that has drawn special attention of economists since the turn of 20th and 21st centuries. The article is based on the assumption that precariat involves unwanted and long-term uncertainty as well as unstable situation on the labour market. As a result, it exerts a negative effect on human functioning, his/her life satisfaction or motivation to work and hence less effective functioning of enterprises and the economy. The paper is aimed at presenting the scale of precarianism in the context of earnings, working hours and unstable situation on the labour market. The author will also discuss threats it poses to people, enterprises and economy.
