Summary/Abstract: “Mészöly kept away from personal diaries, confessions, memoires, the genres of personal documentation.” Miklós Mészöly (1921-2001) was one of the most significant writers of the late twentieth century, whose work was fundamental for the renewal of Hungarian prose hall-marked by Péter Esterházy and Péter Nádas. The author, Beáta Thomka is a literary-historian, editor of the Mészöly-bequest surveys the notes and fragments left behind.
