Summary/Abstract: This paper is an attempt of characteristics concerning Pavel Florensky’s philosophy of culture. Philosophyof culture mainly is based on “concrete metaphysic” and anthropology. There is no cleardistinction between these branches of philosophy in Florensky’s thought, but we can without any difficulties outline the central idea of it, which usually is named symbolism. Symbolism seems to befoundation of real human culture. Florensky derived culture from religious cult. It means that culturehas sacred roots therefore we cannot investigate it without reference to religion, especially Christian religion. Culture devoid of religious background cannot exist or is only pseudo culture. Florensky’s philosophy of culture as an interesting field of research, is worth exploring.
