Social capital – an important element of the local support system for the disabled

Summary/Abstract: What is important in the local system of support for the disabled are institutions and organizations which render services of various range. In the labyrinth of instructions and procedures, the system of direct relations is of key importance, especially in the face of current difficulties and problems. Therefore, in the context of local space of the network of institutional support, the category of social capital, which is unique in every administrative area, becomes very important. The presented studies were conducted in the area of Cieszyn county, where the network of institutions and organizations for the disabled was analysed. Moreover, by means of the poll method, some information was collected concerning the subjective evaluation of functioning of the disabled in their own opinion and in the opinion of professionals working in this area. This has resulted in a description of the specificity of social capital, aimed at understanding its unique indices – not at establishing its level in such a narrow range.
