Family with a disabled child and significance of the local system of social support

Summary/Abstract: Social support is a category describing complex (objective and subjective), the system that links the institutions and individuals relating to human assistance or a particular social group in a difficult situation. The family of a child with disabilities is sometimes helpless in the face of problems that appear with the child’s disability. They may relate to personal reaction, the interaction between family members, attitudes towards the disabled child, sometimes refer to financial or social situation. Difficult situations that family alone can not cope with time can be exacerbated if further problems will pile. Then it is necessary to take the support of such a family, especially in the local environment, where the family lives and works every day. Important are not only institutions that can give advice and offer professional help, but also the number and the quality and scope of support.
