Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyse the transitional justice in Rwanda, the mechanism of reconciliation, peacebuilding after the genocide and post-conflict recovery of the society. In the introduction, the evolution of the theoretical concept of the transitional justice is shown. Next, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the system of gacaca courts are characterized. Finally, the essay presents the effectiveness of these institutions in the context of national reconciliation.
