Summary/Abstract: Two most important and most influential thinkers in the history of Spanish philosophy José Ortega y Gasset and Miguel de Unamuno were compared, in the first line as a protagonists of the process of emancipation of the spirit in Spain from traditionalism and provincialism. Both thinkers gave very important contributions to contemporary philosophy, including the philosophical reflection of history (especially Unamuno’s conception of intrahistory and Ortega’s conception of historical perspectivism).
