Summary/Abstract: The article examines the textual and the lexical peculiarities of the Slavonic translation of an ancient canonical text that pretends to be of Apostolic origin and to go back to St Peter and St Paul. As a part of the so-called Apostolic Constitutions of 8 books from the fourth century, this text is widely represented in South Slavic manuscripts, but in a later version, independent from the one preserved in the Ustjug copy. Examining the Ustjug copy in comparison with the Greek original, the Latin and the other Slavonic translation in the St Sava Ilovička kormčaja from 1262, the article tries to put special emphasis on the archaic features of the Ustjug copy, which can be traced back to the formation of the Old Slavonic Literary Language, and on its relationship to the other textual units in the manuscript, especially to Method's Slavonic translation of the Synagoge of 50 titles, also known as the Nomocanon of John Scholasticus.
