Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses the consequences of the economic crisis (recession) on archival activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Written on the basis of the research conducted in the case of five cantonal archives highlight the impact of the recession on archival activities. In a period of recession (2008-2014) due to reduced financial and other support provided by the founders, there has been stagnation in the development of archival activities and stopping a number of important professional and scientific projects. In a period of recession halted construction commenced archival facilities, reduced purchasing archival equipment, there is a population reduction and as a humble archival staff, were stopped in some archives of the launch of the plan of microfilming and digitization of archival materials. Looking at the overall considerably worsened working conditions archives. All this affected the overall technical, organizational and scientific results in the archives are below the level required. At this time, the trend of further politicization of the archives and making nekozistentnog archival legislation, which significantly contribute to elaborating the situation in the archives in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its further marginalization.
