Summary/Abstract: This article presents the political aspects of John Paul II’s documents, i.e. Apostolic Letters Redemptionis anno and Tertio Millennio adveniente, which include among others, the demand of internationally guaranteed status of Jerusalem, establishment of diplomatic relations with Israel, policy of consensus, which means an agreement reached through dialogue and a policy of non-violence – without the use of violence, cooperation for peace and its four pillars: truth, freedom, justice, and love, solidarity, brotherhood, forgiveness as one of the manifestations of mercy, respect for human rights, particularly the right to religious freedom, and preferential option for the poor. These documents contribute to the peaceful coexistence of religions, which constitutes their political dimension. The followers of different religions are called to be instruments of peace and love. In order to ensure world peace the true interfaith dialogue is indispensable, including interfaith trialogue based on theological and political foundation. Beyond any doubt, Pope John Paul II contributed to the consolidation of dialogue between the followers of different religions, including the Catholic-Muslim-Jewish dialogue in order to build peace between religions and nations.
