Summary/Abstract: By taking wedding vows, husband and wife are obliged to nourish their common good. The common good should be understood as: close community, ever-growing love, faithfulness, honesty and unity. Marital love, a special kind of love, is expressed on the spiritual level: by means of the sacrament, on the emotional level: by means of the mutual bond. It also engages human body in the most complete type of all other human relations. Physical unity of a married couple enables them not only to express and deepen their love, but also enables to create life. Both the sexual and procreative aspect requires a special kind of responsibility and care, especially in the face of contemporary threats towards marriage and family. It is normal then that a married couple should expect some theological help from priests who can explain sacramental and moral truths, remind about the principles of a true dialogue, the need of forgiveness and shared praying.
