Summary/Abstract: The end of 1944 and the beginning of 1945 was a very difficult period in the reciprocal relations between the Albanian government and the Greek minority. The Albanian government due to the strained Albanian-Greek relations and the sensitivity that the Greek minority had toward the situation in which the country was going through, it showed a great attention to the developments in that area. Furthermore, the situation in the minority it was for several time the focus of special discussions in the Albanian party and state forums. The challenge for the Albanian government was to withstand the governmental and Greek nationalist circles intervention in South Albania, particularly in the Greek minority area, to neutralize and maintain under control the nationalists within the Greek minority, as well as to take measures to harmonize the Greek minority members with the new form of governance in Albania. Meanwhile the Greek minority in Albania experienced a stand at the crossroad. While the Albanian government tried to awaken the class consciousness of the Greek minority members, the Greek government called on its national consciousness. On which side the Greek minority needed to be engaged and supported: the traditional nationalism or the political affiliation, this was a new element still uncertain. However, in resolving this dilemma of the Greek minority after World War II, it was Albania that had the most powerful interests, but also numerous chances, despite the fact that the difficulties were enormous.
