Summary/Abstract: Grzegorz Stępniak reviews White Straight Man (Young Jean Lee’s Theatre Company/Kirk Douglas Theatre, premiere: 20.11.2015). He outlines the dramaturgical style of Young Jean Lee, who staged and directed the drama, defining her work as political and critical toward modern society, which pretends to accept otherness. Going over the plot – the story of a widower and his three sons attempting to maintain family relations after the death of the wife and mother – he notes that Lee deconstructs the myth of masculinity, including power, psychological resilience, and self-reliance. Summing up the text, Stępniak does state that the loss of white heterosexual men's privileges is only superficial.
