Summary/Abstract: Starting from theoretical assumptions confronted with several aspects of the political and electoral system, in this study I intend to highlight the link between free elections and consolidation of democratic regime in Romania after 1989. Despite the dysfunctions, after 25 years it can be noticed the existence of a political culture of supporting the new regime and this is visible in the multiparty system and public debate, in the diversity of citizen’s choices expressed in votes for their representatives.
