Summary/Abstract: This article aims to critically compare the approach of sociologists and economists with regard to the research of organisations and their influence on the socio-economic environment. It indicates in which areas, both fields of science, can support each other and enrich empirical research. The article compares the ways of defining of the notion of an organization, as well as the concepts of influence and the socio-economic environment used among sociologists and economists. Based on this comparison a model for the analysis of the impact of agricultural organisations on the socio-economic environment is proposed. This combines a sociological approach (where both the processes in the organisations and their relations with the environment are equally important) with an economic approach (where the purpose of the activities of organisations and their economic effects are essential).
