Modern tools of management reporting in the context of roles of contemporary management accountants

Summary/Abstract: Current tools of management reporting included in Business Intelligence (BI) solutions guarantee the existence of consistent management information system (MIS). BI solutions provide reliable and highly scalable real-time data, broad business analitics, fully centralised access control and data security. The automation of management reporting process has induced irreversible changes in the perception of management accountants’ roles. This paper underlines a potential of advanced IT solutions within management reporting and pays attention to their impact on management accountants’ tasks. In this context the paper depicts factors that determine the development of modern management reporting tools, formulates the expectations of senior managers towards BI systems, arranges the reports generated through BI systems and presents current avalaible BI reporting solutions. Finally, the paper explains how the roles of contemporary management accountants have changed due to the development of new technologies and discusses the outlooks.
