Summary/Abstract: The functioning of modern enterprises in a turbulent environment is determined by the changes taking place in the sphere of technological, social, cultural or demographic, and thus influence the evolution of approaches to employee and management. Knowledge, innovative entrepreneurship and tailored to the needs of staff competencies influence the development of human capital, and thus the growth potential of the work and determine the company's competitive position in the market. Proper identification of the determinants of innovation processes in Polish enterprises and taking into account the role of potential jobs, enable the acceleration processes of creation, absorption and diffusion of innovation. The main objective of this paper is to present the theoretical aspects of human capital and the role of work potential in shaping innovation processes in companies
