Summary/Abstract: Poor competitiveness is shown by national industrial associations having a significant technological gap, which is characterized by a low share of high technology products in international trade. The main aim of the article is to present directions and the strength of influence of different phases of the economic cycle on the innovative activity of industrial organizations. The results of conducted research prove the existence of cyclical innovative activity in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The proposed hypothesis’ verification was conducted based on the probit regression on the group of 761 industrial entities. Previous observations in conjunction with current research conducted by the authors suggest that improving the structure of the exchange will be the nature of evolutionary changes in the used technologies. Economic prosperity is an important factor in making decisions on innovation activity by businesses not only in Poland, but also in more developed countries. Therefore there is a need to take into account current market conditions in the strategic planning of the impact on innovation processes in the whole country.
