Summary/Abstract: One of the fundamental tasks of educational facilities is to provide support for talented students. Despite their purpose, which is taking a specialized care of students who are beyond average, schools continue to create barriers to developing skills by students. Considering that this situation causes a lot of negative implications for cognitive as well as social functioning of children, creating optimal conditions for their development is crucial. A perfect example is the introduction of tutoring to Polish schools, which is a long-lasting process of development taking place between a student and a supportive tutor. The article characterizes aims, tasks and stages of this form of support for talented children as well as conditions of effectiveness and results in creating and strengthening of the key competence in the educational process. The characteristic of a tutor's work and his basic tool - an essay, has also been addressed.
