Premises of clusters and cluster initiatives creation in Poland and the aims of their functioning in the light of own surveys

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the reasons for the creation of clusters and cluster initiatives in Poland, and indication of the purpose of their functioning. These entities have a significant contribution to competitiveness, the development of innovation and the creation of new jobs. It is worth noting that the grounds of their origin partly coincide, but the way of implementation is not always the same. These considerations have been preceded by a presentation of selected definitions and classification of clusters and cluster initiatives.
