Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to define research hypotheses concerning the specificity of organizational culture of manufacturing companies in Poland. In general, manufacturing enterprises are characterized by a higher level of group diversity than service businesses, in terms of employees’ age and education. It influences their values, knowledge and skills. Heterogeneity of teams has an impact on the use of organizational culture as an informal coordination mechanism. The production process and technology, ownership type as well as national culture are also important. Factors mentioned above determine groups division criteria (e.g. managers – workers), their power, and employees’ attitudes and behaviors (e.g. demanding attitude). They are fundamental for building organizational culture in an effectively operating enterprise.
