Summary/Abstract: In Poland TV sagas are the most popular programs which focus the attention of millions of viewers. This paper provides an analysis of selected TV series, broadcast in the period 1990–2013. The article discusses the results of quantitative analysis of the TV sagas as well as the discourse-historical approach. The objective of the paper is to demonstrate how the TV series discourse relating to masculinity and family is constructed and how it has changed. The article presents two main discourses on masculinity – traditional and modern. The analysis included the problem areas associated with doing household chores and child caring. The text is also devoted to new images of men: a single father, a child’s carer, a woman’s partner, a homosexual father and a male nanny.
