The System of Values Declared by Final-year High School Students in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in the Context of the Teachings of the Catholic C

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present some of the findings of youth research as well as issues connected to the youngsters' system of values. The research covered a group of final-year high school students in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, attending schools in the region's three largest cities - Olsztyn, Elbląg and Ełk - in the 2006-2007 academic year. These respondents answered questions about values related to the family, love, work and education, and so on. Apart from the survey findings, the article also covers the Church's teachings contained in the Bible and in the Catechism of the Catholic Church in regard to the questions raised, as well as practical conclusions. The basic question the deliberations strive to answer relates to the presence in the respondents' lives of the Church's teachings achieved among other things through religious instruction at school. The youngsters' system of values investigated here reveals, on the one hand, a certain degree of effectiveness in this instruction, while on the other it sets out new goals and tasks for catechization.
