Summary/Abstract: Interest in human health has been growing in recent years and increasing attention has been devoted to public health. Issues related to prevention and care for individuals and groups have come in for much attention. Moreover, a healthy lifestyle is promoted among children and adolescents. As a consequence, education on health and for health and education of issues sometimes regarded as identical to health and health-promoting education, is developing rapidly, both in theory and practice. This study analyses whether the implementation of the principles of education on health and for health in teaching religion is a necessity or just a fad. The paper briefly explains the term: “education on health and for health”. An assessment is made of the correlation between teaching religion and education on health and for health. The opportunities and threats of education on health and for health in teaching religion are also described.
