The Warsaw Dictionary as Described in its Authors’ Correspondence

Summary/Abstract: From the publication which are connected with the Karłowicz-Kryński-Niedźwiedzki Dictionary ({Hint for the co-worker, Trial quire, Announcment}) we found only the {Trial quire}. Nowadays, the correspondence between authors is one of the few sources of knowledge about the Dictionary because we can find there a lot of information connected not only with, e.g. lexicographic solutions, but also with the academic atmosphere. The correspondence shows also, unknown to this time, facts concerning, among other things, the background of the editorial work. The article raises problems such as: preliminaries, the course of lexicographic works, conception of the dictionary, the study of the entry, spelling, editors and co-workers and conflicts.
