THE PLACE OF IOACHIM CRACIUN, FOUNDER OF THE BIBLIOLOGICAL SCHOOL FROM CLUJ, IN ROMANIAN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Summary/Abstract: Any historiographic engagement referring to Romanian bibliological movement must take into consideration the personality of the leading historian and bibliologist Ioachim Craciun, rightfully considered to be the founder of bibliological school from Cluj. Unfortunately, even though he remarked through a prestigious activity in bibliology, mainly bibliography, Ioachim Craciun enjoyed a relative interest from the part of historians. Historiographical contributions concerning his life and activity are extremely modest at least until 1990, only after this date they becoming more numerous, against the background of specialists’ increasing interest for auxiliary sciences of history, such as bibliography. This is why, those who showed an interest in his creation, focused mainly on his bibliographical preoccupations, while the historical ones weren’t taken into consideration but rarely and somehow sequentially. This study proposes to make actual again the place occupied by Ioachim Craciun in Romanian historiography.
