Summary/Abstract: Canadian Multiculturalism and the Third Power in the Canadian Society: the Immigrants. The present paper deals with Canadian multiculturalism, based on the ethnic "mosaic" laying at its foundation, made up of the founding British and French stratum and other ethnic groups of immigrants, who chose the language and culture of one or the other dominant group. Ethnic discrimination, which more or less affects all states, is much more stressed in Canada due to the specific traditions of British colonial policy and the cohabitation of the two founding cultures and ethnic groups. Canada could be defined by the term "unity in diversity", being perhaps one of the most original and modern experiments, which shows that immigrants can preserve their national identity at the same time adopting a linguistic and economic "supra-system".
