Summary/Abstract: Several Aspects Concerning the Transylvanian Romanian Volunteers Prisoners in Russia, Mirrored in the Memoirs of Vicar Iacob Popa (1917-1918). The memoirs of the Vicar of Făgăraş, Iacob Popa, offer the opportunity of investigating several historical events during World War I, related to the Transylvanian volunteers in the army of the Romanian Kingdom, prisoners in Czarist Russia. Iacob Popa was charged to determined those prisoners to enlist as volunteers in the army of the Romanian Kingdom. After the enlisting of the Transylvanian intellectual elite, his work is made difficult by two elements: the outbreak of the communist revolution in Russia, which advocated pacifism, and the lack of interest displayed by the mass of peasants, prisoners in the Russian camps.
