Summary/Abstract: The book of Lamentations has a messianic echo in Jewish tradition and in the biblical readings of tisha beav celebration. The geber is related to ebed YHWH of Isaiah. In the Holy Week ritual of Christian worship this book is read, especially chapter three of Lamentations. The Fathers see in Christus Dominus (Lam. 4,20) a reference to the person of Jesus Christ and particularly to his death.
