Summary/Abstract: The translation of the Book of Lamentations in the Septuagint version has a predominantly literal character. But the literalness of the translation must be understood in a nuanced way. There are quantitative differences between the two texts, such as the introductory paragraph of the Septuagint. Ancient translations generally, and, particularly, the Greek Septuagint offer various contributions to the exegesis of difficult passages. The translation reveals how the translator interpreted Hebrew text. During the process of translation there is a part that is lost, but, on the other hand, the translation may acquire meanings that the original text hadn´t them, or had them only partially.
