Metaphysics of the Existents in the Work of Mulla Sadra Shirazi

Summary/Abstract: The paper considers the teachings of Mulla Sadra about Being, considered the most complex teaching in Islamic philosophy. Mulla Sadra took revolutionary steps in Islamic philosophy when he deepened the notion of Being in light of several inherited teachings. While Ibn Sina was declared the “philosopher of Being”, Mulla Sadra is considered the “philosopher of the Existent”. Inspired by Ibn Sina’s teaching on Being, he spoke systemically about the act of existence, about the “Existent due to itself ” (wuyudiyya) rather than existence alone, indicating there is nothing that is deprived of the act of existence.
