Summary/Abstract: This essay considers the position of ontology in Sufism. Sufi ontology differs from that of philosophers or students of ‘ilm al-kalām. In fact, it is the Sufi philosophy that articulates its own approach to Reality, the way in which Reality is perceived and the way being is realised in Reality. Conceptual transcription of experience of reality makes for the very philosophy of Sufism. Hellenisminspired philosophers speak about being, and Sufis speak about reality assumed through the concept of truth.
