Summary/Abstract: The paper uses the corpus collected from the legal register to analyze the external distribution of the gerund phrase (GP) translation equivalents in the Bosnian language. The primary theoretical framework for the investigation is the X-bar syntax, the Theory of Principles and Parameters, although aspects of semantic analysis are also included. The analysis indicates that there is a variety of equivalents of the English GPs in Bosnian, to wit CPs, TPs, and NPs. This very fact illustrates the most significant contrastive difference between the two languages, given that GP distribution is solely nominal. The translation equivalents of the English GP do not display the dual nature typical of GP.
