Summary/Abstract: The idea of „beauty‟ appears in Słowacki's poetry rarely; it can be found only in the context of several poems. The greatest frequency of the word itself we meet barely in only two of his works: “List do Aleksandra H.[ołyńskiego]” (“Letter to Aleksander H. [ołyński]”) written before the poet’s mystic period and then in “Do Ludwika Norwida o braterstwie idei list” (“Letter to Ludwik Norwid on brotherhood of idea”) belonging to it. As far as in the first period of Słowacki's writing we can observe poetical aspiration, with some stylistic effort and several attempts to vary the conventional usage of words from this semantic field, in the second period the poet concentrates on the beauty bereft of body, on the beauty of the soul.
