Summary/Abstract: This paper points out to more important linguistic features of the Western Shtokavian dialect in a wider timespan. While evolving throughout its development, the Western Shtokavian retains its more typical characteristics, but simultaneously accepts other linguistic features of the next closest dialect, the Southern Shtokavian, with whom it makes a special, interfering dialectal space, which will, later on, substantially define the character of the modern and standard Bosnian language.
