Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the problem of hypercorrectness as a form of incorrect language use, focusing on its occurrence in current Romanian. Hypercorrectness is a mistake made involuntarily by the speaker, stemming from a wrong use of the language rules. Hypercorrectness represents a linguistic deviation/mistake/error occurring as a consequence of another deviation and can often be more serious than the initial one.
