An Unpublished Manuscript of Ştefan Moldovan: "Historical Sketches about the Church Situation of the Greek-Catholic District of Mediaş 1852"

Summary/Abstract: The study analyzes and publishes an original manuscript of Stephen Moldovan. Manuscript, prepared as a report brings new information in the field of ecclesiastical history of Transylvania, especially regarding to the efforts of the Romanian Greek Catholic form seat Saxon Medias to obtain rights and material support for development of the communities in that deanery. The information submitted by Stefan Moldovan, have a special historical value not only through the positivist character of the description, but also through their analytical significance. Thus, beyond the facts and figures, we find this motivation and causality of deep religious behavior of these communities, which enable us to understand psychological mechanisms, and also sociological mechanisms on which existed religious communities.
