Summary/Abstract: This paper tries to present poetic and socio-historical aspects of poetry celebrating Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s. in Arabic literature, from its appearance and its best poets, who appeared in the early days of Islam, such as Hassan ibn Thabit and Ka’b ibn Zuhayr from the 7th century, to the greatest names of the genre, such as Muhammad al Busiri from the 12th-13th century. At that, the paper tries to point out the most important features of this poetic form and its position in society at the time.
