Summary/Abstract: This work is an attempt to discover and classify basic qur’anic motifs in known novel Darwish and Death by Meša Selimović. It treats issue of intertextual relations in the novel and connection to the Qur’an which is expressed in direct citation of certain ayats (or parts of ayats) from Qur’an that are placed in initial positions of the chapters. The main issue in this work revolves around transformation of cited ayats in the novel as well as the ways of it’s adaptation in the very text of the novel. What is very appealing is the model by which Selimović adapts very strong qur’anic motifs with the idea which is conveyed to the recipients. Along with this, we try to discover transpositions of qur’anic motifs in the novel Darwish and Death as well as its rearrangement that points out the meaning of the novel and enriches promoted message.
