Summary/Abstract: Iran invariably draws the attention of global superpowers for reasons of its strategic location as well as abundant deposits of natural resources, primarily of crude oil and natural gas. After WW2, British influences were being gradually replaced by the American ones. Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi conducted pro-- American policy, which enabled the influx of capital and dynamic modernization of Iran. The situation changed after 1979, when the fall of the Shah led to changes in the political system.
