Fostering Croatian private sector development through small businesses

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to examine the approach of SMEs to obtaining the finance necessary for their establishment and growth. The first part deals with present approaches in the literature on SME finance, while the second brings a review of equity and debt finance. The third part is devoted to the public and private supply of equity finance and debt finance in Croatia, while the final part concludes the study with the proposition of policy measures.
