Summary/Abstract: The main goal of the paper is to indicate the most important cultural factors that determine decisions and activities within the scope of employee performance appraisal in multinational companies undertaken for the sake of making its final solutions more flexible in the global scale. Making solutions more flexible in the global scale means adapting regulations and practices of corporate employee performance appraisal system to local cultural conditions in which particular subsidiaries of international company operate. First the author presents the fundamental elements that compose employee performance appraisal system and then discuses them with regard to the selected cultural dimensions. It is to explain how cultural differences may influence preferences in the range of local performance appraisal systems. The author also stresses that the flexibility of corporate employee performance appraisal system needs to be considered in the broader context of intercultural conditions for flexibility, both of the whole HRM system as well as of its particular subfunctions.
