Summary/Abstract: Bolshevism fought against traditions of European culture but Orthodoxy has always stimulated and created the premises of a fertile culture within a nation. In a society like the Soviet one, planned and organized, the place of culture was seen only from ideological perspective. Bringing the masses on the brink of social consciousness in Russia through communism breaks the continuity of culture. Thus Russian artists try to keep the control tower disseminating their ideas indirectly and they make from their art a way of epiphanic expression of life. They correct the malfunctions occurring with the shock of atheistic philosophy, a philosophy able to anesthetize human thinking. So culture possesses a way to anticipate and annihilate traumas caused by atheist thinking and also becomes an instrument used to preserve the Christian values.
