Social Politics - a Tool which Can Help to Eliminate Diversities

Summary/Abstract: The subject matter of this article are the socio-economic changes in the countries of European Union. The article addresses the changes that occurred after EU enlargement, and the relation of social policy to these changes. In this respect, the author analyzes social conditions in Slovakia and the reform of its social system. Looking critically at the social reform, she emphasizes the fact that a tendency to prefer operative measures to conceptual thinking prevails in Slovak social policy. This ad hoc tendency refl ected in constant changes to social policy results in public disorientation and scepticism towards any further innovations.
