Odense: Syddansk Universitetsforlag, 2010, 298 pp + 35 photographs. In this publication, whose Danish title translates as ‘A Discreet Sojourn: Jewish Refugee Children during the Occupation. A Story of Immigrants’, Lone Runitz, a German historian, considers the fate of Jewish children who fl ed the Nazi regimes in Germany, Austria, and the former Czechoslovakia, and found asylum in Denmark. According to the reviewer, the author has made good use of her many years in Denmark and her long-term interest in the history of the Shoah and involuntary migration. Her work with the primary sources is exemplary, and the exposition is clear and gripping, also discussing Theresienstadt (Terezin), where some of the children were deported from Denmark.
