Summary/Abstract: This article proposes a theory on the esoteric image in Mircea Eliade’s theatre, referring to the sign-function of image as symbolical object connected, on the one hand, to a cultural system and, on the other, to a Gnostic system. We will also refer to the “bodily shape” of the Gnostic image and its effect regarding esthetic emotion.
