Summary/Abstract: This article presents classification and lexical-semantic structure of the hydro-names, with many examples from Dobrudja. There are hydro-names which have their origin in geographic aspects of the places, which name different characteristics of the rivers, which reflects historical-social realities, hydro-names from an anthroponym or created after an event in that place. The second term of the hydro-names can be an anthroponym, a toponym, an adjective, preposition + noun, noun in Genitive or noun + adjective.
