Summary/Abstract: The types of documents about sacrifice (“kurban”) are commented in the article according to formal and content features, according to the field methods and techniques, the occasion and purposes of the inquiry. The interpreted archive examples present two types of data about kurban practices: data received from the general information about the ritual festivity system and the village life (brief, fragmented and retold); recorded as a free interview as a result of scholarly interest. Certain drawbacks are mentioned in collecting field information through questionnaires, as well as discord in classification of materials in the process of composing a classic book catalogue. Based on applied classifications and parameters in systematizing the archive data about kurban we offer corrections for effective search and use of empirical data in digital archiving. Typological collections are presented which emphasize upon the basic characteristics of the cultural phenomena “kurban” – as a multifunctional ritual practice of life relating to the religious and local identity; having especially socializing and integrating role; as a stable element of traditional culture, specifically connected to the ritual and festivity practices of the community.
