Summary/Abstract: Edvardas Kriščiūnas Komunizmo utopijos istorija History of Communism Utopia Summary: E. Kriščiūnas reviewed and evaluated the work Marxism and a Leap into the Kingdom of Freedom by Andžej Walicki, who is considered to be one of the most famous and talented contemporary researchers investigating the theory of Marxism and its trends. The reviewer emphasized that this work is a significant attempt to analyze the development of the most influential communist ideas as well as the efforts of the followers of these ideas to implement communist utopia; tragic consequences of this experiment in the countries of the communist block are also disclosed. The author convincingly proves that only the utopian ideal (identified with the kingdom of freedom) and fanatic belief laid foundations for the emergence and survival of the communist system which subjected the major part of the world. Stanislovas Stašaitis Žemalė – gimtasis Dionizo Poškos kraštas: Žemaičių praeities 12–oji dalis Žemalė – Dionizas Poška’s Native Land: the 12th Part of Samogitia’s Past Summary: Reviewing the monograph Žemalė – the Native Region of Dionizas Poška, published in 2007, S. Stašaitis evaluated it as a meaningful monument to D. Poška as a disseminator of culture in Samogitia and in Lithuania in the 19th century. The reviewer emphasized that this work, based on primary sources and other documents, will acquaint people from this region as well as from other parts of Lithuania with Žemalė’s cultural heritage and D. Kronika Sandra Grigaravičiūtė XVIII Lietuvos mokinių istorijos olimpiada The 18th History Contest of Lithuanian Pupils Summary: On March 27-28, 2008, the third round of the 18th history contest of Lithuanian pupils took place in Alanta (the district of Molėtai) in which 69 pupils and 51 history teachers participated. Romualdas Bakutis (Vilnius Žemyna Gymnasium) became the winner of this contest, followed by Justinas Leita (Panevėžys J. Balčikonis Gymnasium) and Goda Gutauskaitė (Kaunas S. Darius and S. Girėnas Gymnasium). The third place was awarded to Andrius Čialka (Kaunas KTU Gymnazium), Rūta Statkevičiūtė (Alytus A.
